An Indiana Dunes getaway is a perfect weekend

I love being near the Indiana Dunes!

So, having the Indiana Dunes National Park close enough to make a quick trip is a blessing! I love feeling sand in my toes. And soaking in sunshine and the happy ions of Lake Michigan’s blue waters.

Also, another gem you must visit is the Dunes State Park. The park has a renovated pavilion, a long beach, hiking trails, and campgrounds.

Ultimately, small beach towns add to the beauty and charm of the area. You have to make sure to visit Ogden Dunes, Beverly Shores, and the Town of Pines.

Century of Progress Historic District

One of the treasures of the Indiana Dunes coastline is the Century of Progress Historic District. The historic district features houses brought over Lake Michigan after the 1933 Chicago’s World Fair. And there is a tour of the homes yearly each fall.

The houses are monuments to the architectural visions of home builders. And I love looking back in the early 20th century and seeing the builders’ future visions! Walking along Lake Front drive, looking at the historic homes is a perfect way to cap off a beach day.

The Florida Tropical House

Check out beautiful Florida Tropical House. It looks like a Barbie Dream House with its pink color scheme. One of these days, I want roof-top deck just like the Florida Tropical House.
