Solar eclipses always make me excited. It is not just because a solar eclipse causes day to look like night. But because it is happening not too far where I live. That means I can visit my alma mater for an overnight stay and celebrate a unique astronomical event with 300,000 of my friends who are coming.
Many people are saying Bloomington is the place to watch the eclipse:
WRTV in Indianapolis says over 300,000 people are planning to visit Bloomington to watch the eclipse. Indiana University is planning events to attract the 1 million people expected to travel to Indiana for the eclipse weekend, says WTHR. The Indiana Daily Student says Bloomington is the top place in the nation to view the solar spectacular on April 8, 2024.

The day will turn to night right above the Sample Gates at IU!
